Эта сумма отражает затраты на замену израсходованных боеприпасов и оборудования, потерянных в боях, увеличение налета авиации, а также рост расходов на топливо. По словам авторов, приведенная сумма показывает, что активная фаза конфликта длилась чуть более месяца и что в нем было задействовано относительно небольшое количество американских войск по сравнению с гораздо более масштабными и продолжительными операциями США в Ираке и Афганистане.
